NOBL Media AI Software Scans Web Page Language to Help Brands Target Trustworthy Outlets and Avoid Propaganda and Disinformation

Chicago – March 15, 2022 — Basis Technologies, a leading provider of cloud-based workflow automation and business intelligence software for marketing and advertising, today announced free access to the NOBL Media solution that helps prevent campaigns from serving programmatic ads on low credibility sites, including those with Russian government propaganda. The technology accomplishes this by targeting campaigns toward credible, trusted publishers. To help limit the spread of Russian disinformation during the invasion of Ukraine, Basis Technologies will provide free access to this feature for all Basis platform customers until April 15.

Propaganda sites supporting the Russian government’s war in Ukraine can sell ads through programmatic channels if their inventory is available through ad exchanges or ad networks. NOBL uses AI-driven linguistic analysis to determine, at scale and in real-time, if a web page’s content quality merits an ad placement. NOBL recently verified that its technology had proactively identified and stopped ads on all of the sites that the U.S. State Department, Media Bias / Fact Check, and FactCheck.org identified as spreading Russian propaganda.

“The Ukrainian invasion and the ensuing information war, as in previous crises, has once again put a spotlight on how advertisers are inadvertently funding disinformation online.” says Matt Rivitz, chief purpose officer, NOBL. “By using NOBL, brands can prevent their ad spend from being channeled to sites that spread misinformation about the war.”

“Brands are highly sensitive to how they may be affecting global conflict. NOBL Media’s technology empowers marketers to align their values with their ad spend,” said Tyler Kelly, president, Basis Technologies. “By defunding state-sponsored and affiliated sites that support war propaganda and unjust government actions, advertisers are taking positive action to redirect ad dollar support to principled journalism.”

The Basis platform provides a comprehensive selection of buying methods across all channels and devices for all major creative types and formats. Basis customers can utilize NOBL Media to proactively identify the digital environments appropriate for their brands.

“Traditional keyword blocking has defunded credible journalism in times when we most depend on it,” says Cedar Milazzo, CEO and founder, NOBL. “Advertisers play a key role in what gets funded online. We’re happy to be able to offer the industry a solution that immediately helps advertisers direct their dollars towards trusted outlets with quality reporting during this conflict.”

About NOBL Media

NOBL Media is the first ad tech company founded on ethics and advertiser responsibility. NOBL is revolutionizing media buying of big brand advertisers by stopping the flow of their media dollars that have been funding hate, disinformation, and extremism and redirecting these budgets to quality and credible content. Through a proprietary programmatic ad targeting solution, NOBL empowers advertisers to spend responsibly. NOBL not only receives a higher click-through rate, it consistently gets more conversions, lower costs and far less fraud. For more information, visit http://www.wearenobl.com.

Statement from Shawn Riegsecker, CEO of Basis Technologies

Basis Global Technologies is an active supporter of democracy, national sovereignty, individual freedoms, and peace among all peoples and nations. We stand united with independent Ukraine, its brave military, and its courageous citizens, in strong opposition and condemnation of the Russian invasion.

In line with global economic sanctions, Basis Technologies has blocked all Russian state-owned and controlled media across our platform. This decision will remain in place until Russia’s military invasion and active threat to Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence is neutralized and all Russian military personnel have retreated to their country.

We will monitor and block additional media organizations if we deem their content to aid, support, or distribute content that adds to, or supports, Russia’s behavior. We are also reviewing our business partnerships and agreements to ensure we are not working with any organization sanctioned by the U.S. government involved in the war against Ukraine.

We ask other companies and industry leaders in the media, marketing, and advertising technology sector to publicly stand with Ukraine by enacting similar policies against the Russian state.

We stand in support of the Ukrainian military and its citizens and hope for an end to this war in short order and with minimal bloodshed. We also ask for all to keep in their thoughts the people of Russia, as for many of those citizens, this is not a war they asked for.

We stand with unwavering support for Ukraine.

Sincerely,

Shawn Riegsecker

Complexity, Job Satisfaction and Automation Highlight the Digital Media Trends Revealed in Advertiser Perceptions and Basis Technologies Joint Study

Chicago, December 15, 2021 – Basis Technologies (https://basis.com), a leading provider of cloud-based workflow automation and business intelligence software for marketing and advertising, today announced commissioned research showing that 38% of advertising professionals plan to leave their jobs within two years. Less than 25% say they are completely satisfied with any one aspect of their job – with “training and education” and “latest technology to help with automation of tasks” receiving some of the lowest ratings. With 90% of professionals agreeing “that the advertising industry has become significantly more complex,” the top factor causing this sentiment (cited by 72% of those surveyed) is the “increase in the different transaction methods for buying media.”

The data was compiled by research firm Advertiser Perceptions from an October 2021 survey of 150 digital advertising decision-makers at agencies and brands spending $5 million or more annually. The report, “How Complexity, Job Satisfaction, and Automation Intersect in Digital Media,” reviews opinions and attitudes on job satisfaction, workflow automation, technology complexity and programmatic advertising. The full report is available at: https://basis.com/reports/complexity-job-satisfaction-automation. Data highlights are available in an infographic at: https://basis.com/infographics/complexity-job-satisfaction-automation-digital-media.

The report provides insights on various factors affecting digital media workers today. It identifies critical ecosystem pain points and can guide marketers and advertisers on crucial problems to solve for their team members.

Job satisfaction:

Workflow automation:

Technology complexity

Programmatic advertising:

“Complexity in our digital media ecosystem is straining marketing teams, who are challenged with cobbling together disparate, point solutions to buy across the broad spectrum of media outlets with their own unique specifications and pricing methodologies. I believe this could lead to increased employee turnover, decreased levels of customer service, and lower efficacy of paid advertisements,” said Tyler Kelly, president, Basis Technologies. “Our research with Advertiser Perceptions creates a benchmark for the state of our industry workforce today, and identifies areas for the most impactful improvement. To alleviate complexity and disconnection in digital media, I believe that marketers need a holistic and automated approach to their digital marketing process.”

Basis Technologies offers a platform composed of integrated applications that automate manual operations, standardize business processes, and improve marketing and advertising performance. Its capabilities span across desktop, mobile, connected television (“CTV”), linear TV, audio, search, and social media.

Basis Automation Platform Integrates Cuebiq Audience Segments of Pre-COVID In-Person Shoppers to Re-Engage Them on Any Digital Channel

Chicago – December 1, 2021 — Basis Technologies (https://basis.com), a leading provider of cloud-based workflow automation and business intelligence software for marketing and advertising, today announced a capability to help re-engage customers that lost interest in brands because of COVID-19. Available on the Basis platform, lapsed audience segments consist of customers who interacted with brands prior to March 2020, the onset of the pandemic in the U.S. These customers can be targeted on any digital channel and are powered by Cuebiq (www.cuebiq.com), a leading location intelligence and consumer insights company. Basis provides a comprehensive selection of buying methods across all channels and devices for all major creative types and formats.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed customer habits such as travel, visiting brick-and-mortar locations and buying priorities, which resulted in many of them adjusting their brand affinity. Cuebiq provides lapsed audience segments for vertical categories such as QSR, retail, lifestyle, travel and hospitality, automotive and more that regularly drive conversions from in-person interactions. As the holidays set in and more businesses open physical locations and expand capacity, consumers may return to pre-pandemic buying routines and brick-and-mortar visits.

“Cuebiq aims to deliver accurate geo-behavioral customer data at scale. The lapsed segments we've created can help brands reconnect with customers who they've lost touch with due to pandemic restrictions on in-person visits,” said Rus Ackner, chief marketing office, Cuebiq. “By leveraging Cuebiq’s geo-spatial data, Basis is able to provide marketers with reliable and unbiased performance analysis.”

Cuebiq partners with choice mobile app providers for anonymized location data which it analyzes to gain an understanding of consumer behaviors and preferences. A double-verified approach evaluates users’ dwell time at selected locations to help distinguish between a "drive-by" from an actual visit. Cuebiq strives for ethical and responsible methods by solely collecting data from opted-in users and data partners. Cuebiq’s position as a media-agnostic data provider preserves the integrity of its measurement insights.

The Basis platform is composed of integrated applications that automate manual operations, standardize business processes, and improve marketing and advertising performance. Its capabilities include ad buying via programmatic, vendor-direct, search and social. Basis marketing and advertising customers can utilize Cuebiq’s data to re-engage with shoppers that changed their in-person shopping and browsing behaviors during the pandemic.

“In-person channels could be renewed opportunities for marketers to drive sales as the U.S. economy continues to open up. We believe that marketers can rely on Basis to find customers that stopped brand interaction because of the pandemic and help bring them back to brick-and-mortar locations,” said Tyler Kelly, president, Basis Technologies. “We consider Cuebiq to be a strong partner for this capability because of the quality customer data it can deliver to brands.”

About Cuebiq

Cuebiq is a leading location intelligence and consumer insights company leveraging the largest database of accurate and precise location data in the U.S. Its data intelligence platform analyzes aggregated mobility data to allow businesses to glean actionable insights and better understand the offline consumer journey. Cuebiq’s platform provides clients offline location analytics, real-time campaign optimization and footfall attribution, as well as geo-behavioral audiences for cross-platform ad targeting.

In an effort to enhance quality of life across the globe, Cuebiq also partners with academic and research institutions on humanitarian initiatives such as natural-disaster relief, epidemiology and COVID-19 response with its Data For Good program. To learn more, visit: www.cuebiq.com.
