BASIS License Manager - Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
PRO/5®, Visual PRO/5®,
PRO/5 Data Server® and BASIS ODBC Driver® revision 2.10 are now using licensing software. This
document outlines the process used to obtain and install the BASIS
License Manager for multiuser and Data Server products, and installation
of a license file for single user Visual PRO/5 and the BASIS ODBC
Driver. For further information, please see the readme.txt instructions
on the CD-ROM.
General Information
A License Registration Form, similar to the old Activation Key Form, is
included with each product. It contains important information required
during the registration process and must be kept in a secure place once

- After registering for a license, you can register for another
license if needed. If you have many products, it is recommended that you
register them at the same time. A benefit of using multiuser licenses
with the BLM is that you do not have to go to each physical machine to
register for a license. All licenses are maintained on one machine,
making administration and maintenance of licenses easier and
faster.
- Start the BASIS License Manager by restarting the NT Server. After
the initial restart, the BLM will automatically start on reboot.

Basis.lic - Windows Systems
The pointer file named "basis.lic", is automatically created during product installation, but it can be created in the following manner.
- In the same directory as the product, create a file using any text editor.
- Enter the following lines:
SERVER servername ANY
USE_SERVER
- Where servername is specified, make sure it is the name of the server that is running the BLM.
- Please be aware of the case of the text. Your server name is the only text that appears in lower case.
- Save the file with the name Basis.lic
--- End of Basis.lic - Windows Systems ---
