Title:

How to request a Demo License

Description:

Demo serial numbers and authorizations numbers may be requested from the specific product download page. All demo serial numbers are required to be registered on the specific hardware they will be installed. All current product license downloads now receive a serial number and authorization number for a multi-user license. These are typically 2 users licenses that expire 30 days from registration. The BASIS License Manager (BLM ) software is required to register all multi-user license serial numbers.

Vpro5\Pro5 and Rev 3 ODBC driver:

The BLM is a separate download for PRO5\VPRO5 and the older stand alone Rev 3 ODBC driver. The BLM is available for these products from their respective download page. Fill in the Platform, Port and OS information and click on the link to "download only the BASIS License Manager" on the download page.

        Windows:

During the BLM installation process, you will be prompted to Register for a BASIS License. Use the demo serial number and authorization number provided and sent from the product download page. Follow the screen prompts, this process will send us the required hardware information to generate the demo license. Check the box to automatically register and install the license. If the box is not checked, it will send back the registered product license file via the delivery method specified. Install this license via the "Install a BASIS License" from the BASIS License Manager program group.

An alternate method on Window platforms only is to run the Register for BASIS License from the BASIS License Manager program group and check the box requesting a evaluation license. Follow the screen prompts, this process will send us the required hardware information to generate the demo license. Check the box to automatically register and install the license. If the box is not checked, it will send back the registered product license file. Install this license via the "Install a BASIS License" from the BASIS License Manager program group.

Next, run the "Select the BASIS License Manager" from the VPRO5 program group. Versions of Vpro5 prior to Rev 6.21 or ODBC Rev 3, this option is under the "Install a BASIS License" in the Vpro5 group. Check the box to use the BASIS License Manager. This step is necessary to create the BASIS.lic pointer license file to the BLM.

        Unix:

A license file is then generated based off the specific hardware and sent via the specified method. Choose "Install a BASIS License" from the same ./install script. It is suggested to run the "Create" and "Add" options from the BLM menu. Once these steps have been performed, choose the option to "START the BASIS License Manager".

Next, run the ./install script and choose PRO5 and select the "SERVER" option. This step is necessary to create the BASIS.lic pointer license file to the BLM.

The BLM is a component in the BBj download and is installed during the BBj installation.
