BASIS
announces Barista™ Application Framework and client-side object development
support in the NFR (Not-For-Resale) and DVK (DeVeloper Kit) licenses for the developer
community. These annual licenses are offered without the need for an upfront
investment. For the normal cost of the annual license support fee, developers
receive access to and support of the latest technology features and functions
of all BASIS products.
Client-side
object deployment requires a registration of the jar file for use with the
BASIS product. This process of jar registration is facilitated by BASIS’ registration
Web service. For the developer who would then have to constantly re-register
each new change to the jar file during their development cycle, BASIS provides new
DVK and NFR licenses with a unique capacity to develop, debug, and test
client-side objects without registration of the jar file.
Effective
March 31, 2008, BASIS will no longer automatically deliver a temporary non-node-locked
license with the Development Build published nightly on the BASIS Web site. BASIS
recommends that developers use either an NFR or DVK license in lieu of the temporary
Development Build license for their software development needs. To simplify this change
of policy, the BLM now automatically renews expiring licenses once there are less
than thirty days to expiration. Therefore, after developers register for their
initial DVK or NFR license, the BLM automatically keeps the license current
without human intervention.
The new BASIS
Preferred Partner Membership includes free support for a 5-user NFR license
used for software development. Please contact your BASIS Sales Representative,
BASIS Distributor, or BASIS Reseller to purchase a DVK or NFR license; or to join the Preferred Partner Membership
program.
