International Ltd. announces the release of version 7.21 for BBj®, the
newest generation
of BBx®.
This
release resolves several bugs and provides limited enhancements listed in
the Fixed Issues
file. This
release also includes additional optimization to the SQL Engine and
introduces support
for the HP Integrity (Itanium) platform.
In
addition, 7.21 previews many of the features currently
under development and fully supported
in BBj 8.0 scheduled for release at

timestamp from 2 decimal places to a maximum of 6

Introduces ClientObjects that run third party and custom Java code on
the client; enables such enhancements to BBj applications as embedding a Web

getControl() facilitates the use of control names rather than
IDs
·
Specifies that PDF documents render using images
instead of fonts

BBjChart enhancement specifies the
size of the image to be written out to the server when saving an image of a
BBjChart

Introduces Mapped RecordSets to present human-readable data rather
than the code format of the underlying database

Adds optimizations to the SQL Engine resulting in significantly
faster queries in some circumstances

Programmatically retrieves and optionally closes the active BBj
ODBC/JDBC connections

Supports all available file types to SQL "CREATE DATABASE"
and "CREATE TABLE"
·
BBjTriggerData::getKeyDescriptions() returns the key information from
the FIN(86) on the underlying data file
·
SQL enhancement
- Adds REGEXP (regular
expression) support to the SQL engine; similar to LIKE except that the
provided string is a regular expression pattern
- Expands
scalar functions to include MEDIAN and STDDEV (standard deviation)

module in the BASIS IDE
- Replaces
previous Data Dictionary modules with a complete Enterprise Manager
- Provides
database functionality
- Adds the rest
of the Enterprise Manager functionality such as managing triggers and
stored procedures, executing SQL statements, configuring BBj Services,
managing user accounts, and much more

FormBuilder enhancement allows
selection of
multiple controls on a form
