BASIS International Ltd. announces the release of version 7.20 for BBj®, the newest generation of BBx®.
This release addresses several reported bugs and suggested enhancements. For a list of resolved QA memos, review the file online.
In addition, this maintenance release includes a preview of new features currently under development and fully support in BBj 8.0. Download the development build and test out these new features. BBj 8.0 Preview Features (new features previewed in 7.20 appear in bold)
Language/Interpreter
- PDF enhancement
- specifies that PDF documents render using images instead of fonts
- BBjChart enhancement
- specifies the size of the image to be written out to the server when saving an image of a BBjChart
Database Management System
- SQL enhancement
- adds MEDIAN and STDDEV (standard deviation) scalar
functions to the SQL engine
- adds regular expression support to the SQL engine;
the REGEXP keyword is similar to the LIKE keyword
except that the provided string is a regular expression pattern
Development Tools
- New Enterprise Manager module in the BASIS IDE
- replaces the previous Data Dictionary modules with a complete
Enterprise Manager that provides the database
functionality and adds the rest of the Enterprise
Manager functionality such as the ability to manage
triggers and stored procedures, execute SQL statements,
configure BBj Services, manage user accounts, and much more
- FormBuilder enhancement
- offers the ability to select multiple controls on a form by
holding down the left mouse button while moving the mouse
to select the controls that are contained in the rubber band
selection
