BASIS International Ltd. announces the release of BBj® 5.02. While this maintenance release includes well over 400 bug fixes, it also expands the preview of BBj 6.0.

Preview of 6.0 Features

DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

  • BASIS IDE
    • Thin client execution – optionally starts a thin client connection to a remote server that executes the source code thereby facilitating server centric development
    • Legacy BBx execution – adds support for PRO/5® and BBxPROGRESSION/4® interpreters
    • FormBuilder – adds an enhanced user interface
    • AppBuilder – debuts in the nightly download
LANGUAGE/INTERPRETER
  • BBjAPI::getBBjPDFForm() – automatically obtains a BBjPrinter object and returns a BBjForm that allows printing a document to a PDF file.
  • BBjControl – implements the Focusable interface, allowing the programmer to specify if the control can receive focus (input from the keyboard).
  • SAVEP/CLEARP Verb – saves a program with an optional password; sets its protected status, which is not listable. Using the same password argument with the CLEARP verb allows restoration of the program to a listable state.
GRID SORTING PREVIEW FEATURES
  • setAllColumnsUserSortable – enables the sorting of all columns when the user clicks in the column header
  • setColumnUserSortable – causes the grid to sort a specified column when the user clicks in the header of that column
  • sortByColumn – sorts a grid by the content of a given column
  • unsort – removes all sorting directives and displays the grid in its unsorted row order
  • isColumnUserSortable – returns whether or not the grid will sort a specified column when the user clicks in the header of that column
  • resort – re-sorts the grid and reapplies sorting directives to grid, necessary if grid contents have been edited
  • getRowModelIndexFromViewIndex – maps the view index of a row to the model index
  • getRowViewIndexFromModelIndex – maps the model index of a row to the view index
