BASIS International Ltd. announces the release of BBj® 5.01. While this maintenance release includes well over 200 bug
fixes, it also previews BBj 6.0.
Preview of 6.0 Features
- DENUM this new verb removes line numbers from BBj code. Developers can now easily RENUM their programs during
runtime debug sessions, and then simply restore the program to its original non-line numbered state via DENUM.
- SAVEP/CLEARP the SAVEP verb has a new optional parameter that allows developers to specify the password used
to encrypt the file. The new CLEARP verb allows developer to unencrypt the program providing they have the correct password.
- Interface MouseWheelEnabled and Mouse Scroll Wheel Event these enhancements define the control of the mouse
wheel scroll. Developers can determine whether the controls scroll when the mouse hovers over the control, or if the control
requires focus to scroll. Set this on a control-by-control basis or for the entire SysGui object, or optionally choose to
bypass automatic scrolling altogether. The program can also manage all scrolling via a newly added scroll event.
- removeValue this method removes an object from this BBjNamespace, allowing developers to immediately remove unused items from the Namespace.
Grid Preview Features
- get/setShowMaskWhenRendering this method manages how input style cells display the decoration characters of
their mask in non-edit mode.
- get/setTabAction this method controls the behavior of the <Tab> key inside the grid, allowing
developers to control whether the <Tab> key navigates through the grid's columns or navigates to the next available
control. The method also determines whether tab navigation in the grid wraps to the next row.
- get/setColumn/RowGutter this method manages the size of the "gutter" or the space separating the column and row headers from the main grid.
