BBj 4.02 for Windows XP SP2 and SCO UnixWare Now Available |

BASIS International Ltd. announces the release of BBj® 4.02, certified on Windows XP Service Pack II and the 1.4.2 JVM now
also supported by SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 and UnixWare 7.1.4. In addition, this version of BBj includes over 100 bug fixes and
the following BBj 5.0 preview features:
BASIS Database Management and Performance
- SQL speed improvements - provide various optimizations in the SQL Engine and ODBC and JDBC drivers, resulting in
increased query performance up to 400%.
- GET TABLE INFO - a new command in a normal SQL statement used to access the string template programmatically for a
table as defined in the data dictionary. The result set provides additional information with improved performance.
Language
- SQLOPEN verb - introduces new modes that override the DICTIONARY and DATA paths in config.tpm files, eliminating
the need for multiple config.tpm files for multiple data sets.
- Anti-aliased text - BBj now optionally utilizes Java's anti-aliasing font-enhancement technology that is capable of
making fonts appear smoother and clearer in BBj applications.
System Administration
- Silent installation - adds more options to the silent installation .properties file to make custom VAR
installations more flexible and configurable.
- UNIX installation - uses jar files to manage the various components available during installation, allowing the
user to select only the desired features for the installation, thereby reducing the product size.
