Data Connectivity using BASIS ODBC, SQL, and BASIS Data Dictionary | August 20 - 22 |
This course covers reading, writing, and updating BASIS MKEYED and DIRECT files using SQL. During the course,
students install and configure the BASIS Data Server and create data dictionaries. Additionally, students write BBj
and Visual PRO/5® programs using SQL syntax to read/write BASIS files. Furthermore, from Microsoft Access® and
Excel®, students use the ODBC driver to access BASIS files on a Linux server. Students experience first hand the
tremendous performance advantage available when using the BASIS Data Server to access BASIS data files. The various
techniques learned in this class apply to UNIX®, Linux, and Microsoft Windows®.

BBj Basics | August 20 -22 |
This training class presents an in-depth discussion of BBj architecture and deployment, followed by a hands-on
demonstration implementing the new features in BBj. Students use the BASIS IDE and other BBj components to create
and debug a thin client/browser application. Other topics include code considerations and timesaving techniques for
migrating from BBx® to BBj. Students also learn how to use BBj and Java objects in their BASIS programs.
