BASIS customers continue to deliver solutions to their clients with the assistance of the robust and scalable BASIS Database
Management System. Now BASIS offers new capabilities that give developers the ability to provide more secure communications
and data repositories for customer information. This issue of the BASIS International Advantage is brim full with information
about the new product releases of the BBx® family and the latest generation of BBx, BBj®.
The new BASIS Database System includes table, field and communication encryption functionality. BBj delivers many new
features such as the powerful BBjRecordSet, BBjFormObject, BBjCommandLineObject, BBjPopupMenu, the new date input control
BBjInputD, plus several enhancements to existing controls. Once again, BASIS delivers on the value of the SAM (Software Asset Management) Plan, providing the Business

BASIS significantly extended the BASIS IDET, built upon the NetBeans Open Source Project, to incorporate the Data Dictionary
functionality of DDBuilder® and the Enterprise Manager, while adding new features such as a Data File Viewer. The BASIS IDE
now serves as the development dashboard for all BBx applications, and for the first time, provides developers with the
capability to use the IDE for both BBj and PRO/5 programming projects.
BASIS products facilitate a gradual GUI migration process. The BASIS product license 'umbrella' simultaneously licenses both
PRO/5 and BBj interpreters running on the same network. Both interpreters now have access to the Java-powered BASIS Database
System, a superset of the PRO/5 family's Data Server, thereby simplifying the migration process.
