BASIS Announces PRO/5 Data Server® for NT on DEC Alpha

This May, BASIS International Ltd. announced the release of a PRO/5 Data Server for Windows NT specifically ported to the DEC Alpha chip. This is seen as particularly significant for Business Basic users who need more NT processing power. DEC Alpha provides one of the most powerful hardware platforms for Windows NT and is quickly becoming the hardware standard for larger NT networks. The speed of the DEC Alpha chip, when combined with the improved file-based performance of the PRO/5 Data Server, creates very fast and secure systems for modern business environments.

Early reaction to the announcement has been positive. "Our customers demand that we expand into high-end client/server software architectures," said Rich Auger, chief executive officer of Health Systems Design in Oakland, California. "We consider it very fortunate that BASIS is continuing to extend Business Basic to do what we need."
